Tim Gladhill

From:
Sent:
To:
Subject:

Kate Drewry [Kate.Drewry@dnr.state.mn.us]
Monday, March 24, 2008 3:44 PM
Tim Gladhill
RE: City of Ramsey Sketch Plan

Tim:
Please send me a copy of the City's current Critical River overlay district development standards (section
9.21.07 of the City Ordinance in the version we have on file here). I am new to this area, but I see no record in
our file of the DNR having approved any ainendments to this ordinance, which specifies 125 lot width for the
Residential District within the Critical River Area.
Whatever the current ordinance specifies for lot width, my commentrelative to a variance would be the same...
on general principles, there should be a showing of hardship to justify the variance, and that has not been shown
at this point.

Kate

>>> "Tim Gladhill" <tgladhill@cLramsey.nm.us>3/24/2008 3:06 PM >>>
Hi Kate,

I think I left out some critical information. This parcel has already been re-zoned to R-l, therefore the minimum lot width
is 90', not 125'. This equates into a deficiency of 26' over three lots (10' on two of the lots, 6' on the other). Let me
know if this changes anything, or whether or not your recommendation still stands. Thank you!

Tim Gladhill
Management Intern
City of Ramsey
tgladhill(alci .ramsev. m n. us
http://www.cLramsev.mn.us
763.427.1410 (City Hall)
763.433.9827 (Direct)
763.427.5543 (Fax)

._______._----w--,------,...,~.~.._--....................._~,........--~--...----..----~-'~^.,.-.--.....-

From: Kate Drewry [mailto:Kate.Drewry@dnr.state.mn.us]
Sent: Monday, March 24, 20082:53 PM
To: Tim Gladhill
Subject: Re: City of Ramsey Sketch Plan

Tim:

I have reviewed the sketch plan which you sent, and the only comment I have is that I see no justification for
providing a variance from the standard lot width requirement of 125' as required in your Critical Area
ordinance. Feel free to call if you would like to discuss further.

Regards,

Kate Drewry, North Metro Area Hydrologist
Mn Department of Natural Resources-Division of Waters

1

7
