Chief Aus~0s slated a "major overhaul" of the performance evaluations should take place if the <br />employees~are going to be given points on their performance as each supervisor grades differently. <br /> <br />City Admi~!istra~tor Schroeder stated his intent is to "tailor make" the performance evaluations. He <br />suggested ~he' system should be done in a summary memorandum form. <br /> <br />Chief Ausl~os ekpressed concern with using minimum and maximum figures as opposed to the <br />mean for ~eterfaining "market" using Stanton V Cities with populations between 10,000 and <br />20,000. ;~ <br /> <br />City Admig_ istritor Schroeder explained that by using the minimum and maximum figures, this <br />system ha{ lesslpropensity to "bounce around". The mean figure used in the left hand column <br />refers to th, salt!/y of the current person in the job. <br /> <br />Senior Ac~,ountant Gomez stated there is nothing in the present evaluation system to negate <br />reviewer b~s affd felt this issue needed to be addressed. <br /> <br />CouncilmeinberiBeyer expressed complete agreement with Ms. Gomez's statement. <br /> <br />Councilme!nberi!Hardin stated that supervisors will have to be instructed on how not to be biased in <br />their review. ~ <br /> <br />A discussion engued regarding the appeals process. Personnel Coordinator McAloney stated that <br />the same cOnsid~ration will be given regarding market appeals to the non-exempt employees as is <br />given to th{ AF$CME employees. If an employee disagrees with his/her performance review they <br />can first apPca~ to their supervisor, then to the City Administrator and then be heard by the <br />Personnel .Committee. <br /> <br />Motion by!Councilmember Hardin and seconded by Councilmember Beyer to meet once more <br />before mak~ing a!decision on this con~'act because of the questions presented at this meeting. <br /> <br />Motion carried, iVoting Yes: Councilmembers Peterson, Hardin and Beyer. Voting No: None. <br />ADJOURNMENT <br />Motion by Cotmcilmember Beyer and seconded by Councilmember Peterson to adjourn the <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Motion car~i,'ed..Voting Yes: Councilmembers Peterson, Beyer and Hardin.
