Kathi ~¢ter~on mentioned that the Anoka Senior High students are required to donate 10 <br />hours t~f 9olhmunity work before they can graduate and that would be a good source of <br /> <br />Comm~ssioqer Swokowski asked Kathi Peterson to provide information from other cities <br />regardi .~g a~Adopt-A-Park program and also suggested each Commissioner think of ideas <br />for nex[ mon.th's Park and Recreation Commission meeting. <br />Case t~3: Recommend Park Dedication for McDonald Addition; ease of <br /> ' Robert and Barbara McDonald <br /> <br />Mark ~oos ~eviewed the McDonald Addition and the need for a trail corridor in thc area. <br />He stat~., th~,t in the Five Year Comprehensive Plan, the Trott Brook trail is going to be a <br />major ~ast tO west trail corridor and the only trail for snowmobiles. Park dedication is <br />needed ~rom ~vlcDonald Addition for the Trott Brook trail. The City also needs a minimum <br />of 100 ~eet of usable land on either side of the brook. <br />The Park and Recreation Commission recessed at 9:00 p.m. <br /> <br />Chairma~n Hetland called the meeting back to order at 9:10 p.m. <br /> <br />Mark BOos r~viewed the site location map and showing the major east/west trail corridor <br />alignment. He informed the Commission that the Park Comprehensive Plan states that a <br />minimum of [00 feet of usable land is needed on either side of the brook and that it is up to <br />the Corr~ission to determine what is considered usable land. <br /> <br />Commi~ion~ Cook suggested putting the snowmobile trail through the wetland and to use <br />the 100 feet of usable land for the bituminous trail. <br /> 7 <br /> <br />Chairman Heqand stated that the entire trail does not have to be 100 feet wide, it can be <br />n owe in si, ots. <br />Mr. Mcl~onal~l requested the City put up a sign indicating the park land. He also said that <br />he would like [some assurance that the City would not disturb the ditches. <br />Motion I~y Commissioner Cook and seconded by Commissioner Florentius to direct City <br />Staff to r~$Olv~ park dedication for McDonald Addition. <br /> <br />Motion earrie~l. Voting Yes: Chairman Hetland, Commissioners Cook, Gookin, Prall, <br />Johnson,Swokowski and Florentius. Voting No: None. Absent: None. <br /> <br />Case #4i: Discuss Proposal for Insuring Equitable, Orderly Park <br />: Planning and Development <br /> <br />Mark Bops discussed the possibility of dividing the City into park districts. This would <br />make par~PlaOning much easier and would help in deciding which areas need a developed <br />park. Heialso guggested having a park asset report done for each district. <br /> <br />Chairman. Hefland suggested reviewing the park district map along with the Five Year <br />Comprehensiv~ Plan. <br /> <br />The cons~nsus~of the Commission was to discuss at the June meeting, the following items <br />regarding~ark idistricting: <br /> <br /> ~sset inventory by district <br /> ~l, tesources assessments <br /> Demographics of parcels <br /> Dollars in park dedication paid and ratio of those dollars to assets <br />pARdi AND RECREATION COMMISSION / MAY 14, ~992 <br /> ..
