I wanted to .send you a quick email to update you an our status regarding enrollment for kindergarten. I am still in discussions with our legal cOl:lnsel on this matter. Unfortunately,w e have not been able to talk much due to hi~ schedule and it is taking. a little. longer than antic;ipated. There is a letter 9(,;ng out to aU. families on the lottery list for kindergarten for 08-09 this afternoon. The letter will explain that the lottery is being postponed to April 15th until these matters can be resolved and policies addressed to allow for the lottery to move forward smoothly. . On a side not. there are 150 current applications for the 36 open slots in kindergarten at PACT next year. There are cU\l"ently 22 siblings on the list I adding in the Ramsey residents. there are over 60 that would be given preference. This means that a lottery would need to be held for this group first since they both receive the same preference under the statute. The proximity preference in the statute would not apply since the entire area already faUs within the City of Ramsey. If we-end up proceeding with what t\ has determine, it will displace siblings of current students (which I can not imagine was intended by the statute) and there is no guarantee that a Ram: resident will automatically be enrolled. I wish there were easy answers to th questions around the lottery as it is detailed in the statute. .' Thanks, Daniel C.
