<br />Case # 5 <br /> <br />AUTHORIZE DATE AND LOCATION OF 2008 BUSINESS APPRECIATION DAY <br />By: Sean M. Sullivan, Economic Development Coordinator <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />It is that time of the year to start planning for the Business Appreciation Day event. The successful event <br />has been held at The Links at Northfork for the past few years and the facilities are large enough to <br />accommodate the 160 plus people in attendance. The City has utilized Rum River Hills for the Business <br />Appreciation Day in the past but the event has outgrown that venue. In order to have a successful event, <br />Staff needs to take care of a number of items. Items that need to be resolved are: event location, event <br />caterer, event planning and finally the date. This event is very large and the planning and execution of it <br />can become quite time demanding. <br /> <br />Staffwas satisfied with the venue and food last year and would support using the Links at Northfork and <br />Well's Catering again. Staff has already contacted Northfork and has tentatively reserved Tuesday, <br />August 19,2008 for the event. The event is able to mostly fund itselfbut Staff has reserved the right to <br />utilize EDA funds to help support marketing and operations costs as necessary. Staff would seek <br />permission to spend up to $2000 in EDA funds if necessary to supplement funding for this event. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends selecting The Links at Northfork and Well's Catering to be the chosen venue and <br />caterer for the Business Appreciation Day Event. Staff also recommends selecting August 14, 2008 as the <br />date for the 2008 Business Appreciation Day, to authorize $2000 in EDA funding, and to remit the <br />required deposit ($250.00) for the event. <br /> <br />Funding Source: <br /> <br />EDA Levy and Registration Fees <br /> <br />EDA Action: <br /> <br />Motion to select The Links at Northfork as the location for the Business Appreciation Day and to remit <br />the deposit payment of $250.00. <br /> <br />And <br /> <br />Motion to select August 19, 2008 as the Business Appreciation Day date. <br /> <br />And <br /> <br />Motion to select Wells Catering as caterer for the Business Appreciation Day. <br /> <br />And <br />Motion to authorize $2000 for supplemental funding for the 2008 Business Appreciation Day event <br /> <br />EDA: 4.10.08 <br /> <br />43 <br />
