The disc~ssion at the Oct~ber meeting expanded to dO 0;0
mclude placement of pnonty street lIghts on traIls. The CommIttee requested Park and
Recreation review lighting on intersections of trails and streets. The Street Lighting Policy is
being revised and the Committee would like lighting of trails included in the new policy.

ParkslUtilities Supervisor Riverblood indicated the question was that if there is mid street
crossings should they be illuminated.

Chairperson Johns thought it seemed like most of their crossings are at lighted intersections. She
wondered if the light could be a lower street light and not so tall.

Commissioner Lehman indicated in his development, they have more of a lantern type light.

Civil Engineer II Linton thought it could be contact sensitive to what they are lighting. They
would have to identify a need and determine what would be best at that location.

Chairperson Johns thought if a connection came out at a County road, she thought they would try
to light it but she also thought they would try to avoid a crossing there.

Commissioner Lehman stated safety is a concern and they should light the areas needed.

Motion by Commissioner Lehman, seconded by Commissioner Hansen, to recommend placing
priority street lights at trail intersections with State, County or State Aid roadways and forward it
to Public Works.

Motion carried.
