She suggested "explore
opportunities to make green conservation measures and education available to existing
homeowners."
Economic Development and Marketing
Councilmember Olson stated that she thought the strategy to pursue a community -wide
technology plan to meet business technology needs (fiber -optic and/or wi -fi) was dropped.
Assistant City Administrator Nelson stated that this was pulled as a goal and suggested that the
strategy language be changed to "continue to monitor" community wide technology.
There was a consensus of the Council to change the strategy statement to "continue to monitor"
community -wide technology.
Councilmember Look stated that the last strategy for Goal #1 talks about continuing partnerships
with neighboring cities and local chambers of commerce. He stated that there were discussions
at the public meeting about having our own Chamber of Commerce.
Assistant Community Development Director Frolik stated that there was a recommendation from
the EDA to remove that strategy and develop a local Chamber of Commerce.
Councilmember Elvig stated that he remembers this discussion and felt that the conclusion was
that the City should try to do their own thing in collaboration with the large chamber groups that
are already established.
Councilmember Strommen suggested the wording "explore opportunities" rather than "develop ".
City Council Work Session /April 1, 2008
