INTRODUCE. ORDINANCE AMENDING SECTIONS 3.40.02, SUBD. 1, NUMBER 7 <br />(LAWFUL GAMBLING FUND) OF CITY CODE <br />By: Heidi A. Nelson, Asst. City Administrator <br />Background: <br />At the April 15, 2008 Council work session, staff discussed its request to amend the city code <br />with regard to the Lawful Gambling Fund, designating a percentage to capital uses and a <br />percentage to community programming /service uses. The city code was amended at the end of <br />2007 to allow for community programming /service uses in addition to capital uses. Historically, <br />the fund has been used exclusively for capital projects; the only exception has been the annual <br />$4,000 contribution to the City of Anoka Aquatics Facility for Ramsey residents to receive <br />resident rates at the facility. <br />Council directed staff to amend the code to designate, on an annual basis, at least seventy (70) <br />percent of the fund for capital recreation, community and athletic facilities. <br />Staff Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends Introduction of Ordinance 08 -XX Amending Sections 3.40.02, Subd. 1, <br />Number 7 (Lawful Gambling Fund) of City Code. <br />Council Action: <br />Introduce Ordinance 08 -XX Amending Sections 3.40.02, Subd. 1, Number 7 (Lawful Gambling <br />Fund) of City Code. <br />Reviewed by: <br />//6 <br />City Administrator: <br />CC: 04/22/08 <br />Iry <br />
