<br />Commission Business <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt called the regular meeting of the Planning Commission back to order at 8:36 <br />p.m. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cleveland asked if the church wanted to build a school in the future would they <br />need to come back again. . <br /> <br />Associate Planner DaInes stated she thought that would be permitted in the R -1 District. <br /> <br />Commissioner Brauer returned to the meeting at 8:38 p.m. <br /> <br />Commissioner Cleveland asked if there would be a residence on the property for a priest house. <br /> <br />Associate Planner DaInes stated there were not any plans in this phase for a residence. <br /> <br />Commissioner Van Scoy asked if any expansion would go through the CUP process. <br /> <br />Associate Planner DaInes stated that would not need to go through a CUP process again, it would <br />go through the plattiIig process. <br /> <br />Chairperson Nixt asked what they were planning on guiding this to in the Comprehensive Plan. <br /> <br />Associate Planner DaInes stated they are simply reguiding it from rural to urban but with that <br />comes a different set of development standards. <br /> <br />Motion by Commissioner Levine, seconded by Cleveland, to recommend that the City Council <br />approve the request and authorizing staff to submit the Comprehensive Plan Amendment to <br />Metropolitan Council, contingent upon plat and site plan approval. <br /> <br />Motion Carried. V oting Yes: Chairperson Nixt, Commissioners Levine, Cleveland, Brauer, and <br />Hunt. Voting No: None. Abstain: Van Scoy. Absent: None. <br /> <br />Case #8: <br /> <br />Request for Sketch Plan Review for St. Katharine Drexel's 1st Addition; Case <br />of St. Katharine Drexel Catholic Communities <br /> <br />Associate Planner DaInes stated The City has received an application from Saint Katharine <br />Drexel's Catholic Communities for a minor subdivision of the property located on the northwest <br />corner of Variolite Street N.W. and 161st Avenue N.W. There is also a site plan for the <br />construction of the church, a comprehensive plan amendment to bring the property into the urban <br />service area and a conditional use permit to allow a church in an otherwise residential area. <br /> <br />Saint Katharine Drexel Catholic Communities is proposing a 10,000 square foot church to be <br />located on the 32.3 acre site just east of Central Park on 161st Avenue. As part of their <br />application, they are requesting a minor subdivision to create a 3.6 acre lot where the church <br /> <br />Planning Commission / April 3, 2008 <br />Page 13 of 21 <br /> <br />P13 <br />
