PW <br />� �� <br />1� P, <br />Case #3: Consider Adoption of a Revised Street Lighting Policy <br />Public Works Committee / October 17, 2006 <br />Page 4 of 11 <br />City Engineer Jankowski reviewed that the Public Works Committee has considered street <br />lighting issues twice in 2006. At the January meeting discussion focused on establishing a <br />process for installing subdivision street lights in neighborhoods without them. At the September <br />meeting staff reported that in 2006 a long standing goal of completing the installation of priority <br />street lighting on all intersections with state, county and arterial City streets was realized, and <br />suggested that an annual budget of $15,000 be allocated for the installation of priority lights in <br />other locations deemed to benefit the general public. Direction to staff provided from both these <br />meetings by City Council was to revise the street lighting policy. Mr. Jankowski indicated <br />included in the Council's packet is a draft for a revised policy as well as a copy of the current <br />policy, which was adopted in October of 1992. The new policy includes a process for <br />neighborhoods without subdivision street lights to petition for their installation under the same <br />special assessment process, which the City utilizes for other public improvements including <br />
