FROM ARROW SIGN

(FRI) 5 9 2008 8: 59/8T. 8: b8/NO. b 111 ~bbol b Y &

~

SIGNS AWNINGS NEON SERVICE

City of Ramsey
Economic Development
Ramsey, MN

To Council,

Arrow DeSigns was established in 1979 as a manufacture of Signs and Awnings. Our first manufacturing
plant was in East Bethel, Minnesota. When we out grew our plant after many years in the business
Arrow relocated to a new plant in Ham Lake. That was sixteen years ago and again we feel that we have
outgrown the facility we are currently in. After a lot of consideration we asked ourselves do we build on
to our existIng facility or do we look for another facility that will satiSfy our growing needs now i;Jnd in .
the future? We took a good look at our volume of sales and the market that exists in our field. After
much consideration it was determined that we would need a manufacturing plant and office space of
about 24,000 square feet instead of the 16,000 we currently have. After looking at several locations in
the Anoka County area we then looked at a couple in the Ramsey area that we felt would fit our needs.
One of the buildings we looked at we felt would have cost too much to remodel to fit our needs. Then
we looked at the Peck Construction building in Ramsey on Sunfish Lake Boulevard. This building would
be just right to fulfill our company needs now and in the future. If Arrow DeSigns were to purchase this
building how would the City of Ramsey help our company now and in the future? We are writing this
letter to the City Council to ask if there are any programs that are designed to help small business to
. relocate in your city. Arrow DeSigns now has 25 employees and as we grow we feel to meet our goals
we will need up to 40 employees. Out of the current 2S employees only 3 are under $14.00 per hour.
The majority of the new positions at Arrow DeSigns would begin at or increase to $14;00 per hour within
2 years. This will mean new jobs for the people in the area. One of the best reasons why the City of
_ Ramsey would work out great for our company is that my fiance has lived here for 25 years and myself
for 6 years. Three of our children work for the company and they too live in Ramsey. If we do purchase
the building my partners would be moving to this area as well. They currently live in Becker, Minnesota.
Be!ow is the cost to move our business to Ramsey. We have to have a down payment of $150.000.00.
We also understand that the back lot will have to be asphalted to be able to store anything outside. We
have boom trucks and trailers that will need to be outside along with the signs that will be crated and
ready for shipping. This cost would be about S35.000.00. We also need to do some remodeling on the
inside of the plant. We will need to make three separate rooms for the graphics department and heat
transfer machine, the neon department and the eNC Router table and letter making machine. We can
do this for about $10.000.00. Our overhead crane will have to be taken down and reinstalled and
modified to fit. This will run about $15.000.00. The paint booth will have to t?e dismantled and
~
reinstalled costing about $15,000.00; Moving the air exchanger and paint storage unit and mixing

~ 113735 ABERDEEN STREETNE, HAM LAKE, MN 5531)4 ,I.
