CITY COUNCIL <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br /> <br />The Ramsey~City Council conducted a regular meeting on Tuesday, August 25, 1992 at the <br />Ramsey Municipal Center, 15153 Nowthen Boulevard N.W., Ramsey, Minnesota. <br /> <br />Member PreSent: Mayor James Gilbertson <br /> Councilmember Sheila Beyer <br /> Councilmember Glen Hardin <br /> Councilmember Kenneth Peterson <br /> ~ Councilmember Gerald Zimmerman <br /> <br />Also Present: <br /> <br />City Administrator Ryan Schroeder <br />Finance Officer Sandra Ashley Helling <br />City Attorney William Goodrich <br />City Engineer Steven Jankowski <br />Parks/Utilities Coordinator Mark Boos <br /> <br />CALL TO ORDER <br /> <br />Mayor Gilbertson called the regular City Council to order at 7:35 p.m. and led in the Pledge of <br />Allegiance to ~the Flag. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />Resident, 8252 -155th Lane N.W., Ramsey - stated he spoke to a Police Officer about a month <br />ago regarding pl~ement of a stop sign between 155th Lane N.W. and Hedgehog Street N.W. He <br />expressed c0?cem about the high speed of cars in this residential area. The Police Officer had <br />suggested a yield !sign; however, the residents would prefer a four-way stop sign. <br /> <br />Mayor Gilbel'tson offered to visit the site along with Police Chief Auspos and City Engineer <br />Jankowski. <br /> <br />Doug Fountain, 15255 Garnet Street N.W., Ramsey - stated he was pleased with the latest results <br />in the Adult,Bool~store lawsuit; however, he is not pleased with the opportunity the bookstore has <br />to move to another location. He inquired as to why the area permitted for adult uses couldn't be <br />more remote.; He stated the City of Ramsey doesn't need a business of this type at all. <br /> = <br /> <br />City Attorneyr GoOdrich stated that if the City's zoning were such that the bookstore were allowed <br />only in the most ~mote of areas, there would be a serious constitutional challenge. He added that <br />the new zorlit~g does not permit the bookstore to be located along Highway gl0 and does not <br />permit it within 1,000 feet of a residential area. <br /> <br />Mary Ullen, 14400 Bowers Drive N.W., Ramsey - expressed concern with the major erosion <br />problem thel residents adjacent to the river along Bowers Drive N.W., are experiencing. She felt <br />it's caused by wake from boats and jet ski vehicles. She suggested putting a wake control in <br />effect. She st~ated she has contacted the Department of Natural Resources and they informed her <br />this was an issue for local jurisdiction. <br /> <br />Council direcl:ed that Staff research this problem. <br /> <br />City Council/August 25, 1992 <br /> Page 2 of 9 <br /> <br /> <br />
