<br />Village Bank <br />Sponsored Happy Days and participated in the parade; built the Village Bank building; financed <br />the strip mall next to the Amoco site. <br /> <br />Coborn's <br />Sponsored Happy Days; Coborn's cannot likely be credited for the tax base on their building, as <br />it is owned by the property management company. <br /> <br />Sauter & Son's Excavating <br />Preferred vendor of the City for various projects in the City; built a new building in the Critical <br />Blight Redevelopment Area. <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan noted the contributions of Sauter and Son's <br />Excavating is more of a tax base contribution to the City; they have put up almost $4 million <br />worth of buildings in the City. <br /> <br />Member Kiefer stated all of the nominated businesses have merit. He indicated he was not able <br />to finish compiling information on all of the nominees. He believes that LANO Equipment or <br />Bank of the West are overdue for recognition. He pointed out that LANO Equipment has made <br />substantial investment in the community and has made efforts to attract business to Ramsey. <br /> <br />The Board discussed the information presented by Member Kiefer on the business nominees. <br /> <br />Motion by Member Kiefer, seconded by Member Steffen, to award LANO Equipment as the <br />2008 Business of the Year, to induct into the Economic Development Hall of Fame, and to <br />purchase a plaque for the recipient from Wendell's. <br /> <br />Further discussion: Member LeTourneau suggested providing Member Kiefer with additional <br />time to compile information on the nominees. Member Kiefer indicated he would not be able to <br />finish compiling information until the May Board meeting. The Board commended Member <br />Kiefer for the effort in compiling information on the business nominees and expressed support in <br />the nomination of LANO Equipment. <br /> <br />Motion carried. V oting Yes: Chairperson Riley, Members Kiefer, Steffen, and LeTourneau. <br />Voting No: None. Absent: Members Elvig and Strommen. <br /> <br />Case #5: <br /> <br />Authorize Date and Location of 2008 Business Appreciation Day <br /> <br />Chairperson Riley noted the 2008 Business Appreciation Day is set for August 19,2008 at The <br />Links at Northfork. Wells Catering will cater the event. <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan noted the recommended motion includes <br />authorization for $2,000.00 in EDA funding as a safety valve, as the event is highly dependent <br />on gifts from area businesses. <br /> <br />Economic Development Authority/Aprill0, 2008 <br />Page 11 of 14 <br />
