6701 Highway 10 NW
Ramsey, MN 55303
Phone: 763-421.8530
Fax: 763-421.8960
www.youth1st.net

YOUTH FI RST
COMMUNITY
OF PROMISE

ANDOVER. ANOKAo RAMSEY

could include special presentations at the Ramsey Neighborhood Center or family field
trips to plays, cultural events or sporting events. These activities would provide families
with a fun way to spend time with their chiidren.

We have also been working with the Ramsey Parks Department to collaborate on
programs within the community and at the Ramey Neighborhood Center. . Over the
Summer Ramsey youth helped the parks department with some weeding in Ramsey
parks. The park department has agreed to flood an ice rink in the space next to the
Neighborhood Center this winter for kids to skate on. We collaborated this fall to host
the Ramsey Happy Days Skateboard Competition. From this competition we compiled a
list of Ramsey youth who are willing to serve as an "advisory group" to help in the
design of the new skateboard park. The kids enjoyed the event and were very excited
about the possibility of having input into the skate park development.

In collaboration with the Ramsey Police Department we are working on organizing an
active group of residents in the Oak Terrace Mobile Home Community into a Crime
Watch group. These are the beginning steps to creating a sense of community for the
residents and helping to reduce crime and improve their quality of life. We aiso worked
with the police department and the Caring Tree to distribute over 70 backpacks full of
school supplies to kids in need all over Ramsey.

We are requesting funding from the City of Ramsey to help subsidize the cost of
providing programs in the City of Ramsey. AU programs are designed to meet the
unique needs.ofthe community of Ramsey. We have collaborated with the Ramsey
Police Department and Anoka-Hennepin School District, and the Ramsey Parks
Department, local business and civic groups in ongoing development of our
programming. As the programs continue to take shape, it is our.hope that we can
engage the residents and youth and guide them to address the needs they see in their
community. By having a strong and non-threatening presence in the community
through these programs we hope to develop a strong and consistent group of youth and
individual participants.

There is great need in this community for support for the children,
youth and famiiies who iive there. Ramsey has a rapidly growing
youth population. The start and continuation of the Ramsey Neighborhood
Center will serve as a safe and caring place for Ramsey youth to come
and feel part of their expanding community. Youth First has a strong and
proven ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with youth,
families, and the communities we offer programs in. We are confident in
Our ability to provide quality enrichment opportunities for yout'1 in the City
Active Partners with:
· Anoka County. City Governments of Andover, Anoka & Ramsey.
