At that time, members
of COtlllcil expressed interest in seeing the same type of structure for alcohol establishments.
Adopting a similar schedule for alcohol establishments is quite different from what was done with
tobacco. With alcohol, there are "on sale" (bars and restaurants) and "off sale" (liquor stores)
businesses. The "off sale" could be handled the same as what was adopted for tobacco - a business
agrees to have the equipment and use it on each sale to get the reduced rate. The "on sale"
establishments pose several problems based on how a business is run to be able to use the age
verification equipment.

This is not a mandatory requirement for establishments.

Attachments: Proposed "red lined" ordinance.

Action Statement:

Based upon discussion.

Reviewed by:

Police Chief p~" cdJ'J
City Clerk " C.L
City Administrator _. ..

CCWS:

06/03/08

-27-
