The city <br />will work with property owners in violation so long as good <br />faith is being done. The City does allow temporary signs for these events <br />with a permit. The Cityalso recognizes that too much signage <br />can detract from the image of the City. <br /> <br />Permit applications are available at City Hall or on the City <br />website www.ci.elk~river.mn.usThe permits have a $30 <br />fee with a $100 deposit, which is refunded when the sign is <br />removed. <br /> <br />Here are some general <br />rules for temporary signs: <br />signs are only allowed . <br />for 90 days per property. <br />Signs may not be placed <br />in any road/highway <br />right-of-way (adjacent <br />to roads) and must be <br />located on an approved <br />surface (asphalt, <br />concrete, c1ass-5 and crushed concrete). Landscaped areas are <br />not considered approved surfaces. Signs may not be located <br />in fire lanes and/or circulation drive lanes. <br /> <br />Permit applications, may take 2 to 3 days to process. After <br />issuance, the permit must be visibly attached to the <br />temporary sign.Temporary signs may not be displayed <br />without a permit attached to the sign. <br /> <br />Please contact the Planning Department 763.635.1000 with <br />any questions. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />. What is HHW, you <br />ask? Well, it's any chemical in your house that may have the <br />words "Caution," Warning," Danger,"or"Poison" on the product <br />label. HHW can range from paint and cleaning products <br />to outdoor items like motor oil, gas, and lawn products <br />(herbicides, pesticides, etc.). A handy (free) disposal guide is <br />available through City Hall or the Sherburne County Planning <br />and Zoning office as well. <br /> <br />If you have excess HHW, take advantage of the FREE collection <br />events scheduled in Sherburne County and properly dispose <br />of these problem materials! The HHW Collection Events are <br />held from May to September at various locations around the <br />County.
