Absent: None. <br /> <br />Case #3: <br /> <br />Approve Skate Park Design for Alpine Park <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood explained that within the proposed 2008 Parks Capital <br />Improvement Program (CIP) is a projected allocation of$195,000 for what would be the first part <br />of a phased development of the west side of Alpine Park. Specifically this would be a two level <br />concrete slab with integrated concrete skate board elements. The lower slab would also be used <br />for spring, summer and fall wheeled skating in the future and ice skating in the winter. A first <br />phase access drive and small parking area is also contemplated. He advised that $175,000 would <br />come from the Charitable Gambling Fund and they would receive another $20,000 back from <br />lease revenue, which would be deposited into the parks trust fund. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock questioned how it would be made known to residents that the tower site <br />was not all their doing and that they would be getting some of the money back. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that it is all important point and suggested that a <br />Commissioner do a spot on cable television on the skate park to get that word out. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns, questioned if the material would be durable. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that the material is very durable and above the quality that <br />they have used in previous projects. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock confirmed that $175,000 would be taken from the Charitable Gambling <br />Fund. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood thought that they should get the bids out and then solve the budget <br />issue. He advised that the engineering estimate for the driveway and parking lot could come in <br />under budget, but advised that they would have to see when the bids come in. <br /> <br />Public Works Director Olson advised that this is a good year to bid out jobs. He advised that <br />they had budgeted $780,000 for the streetscape project and the bid came back at $360,000.
