-94— Case #4 Receive Information on Andrie Street / 164t Lane Homeowners Association Survey and Update on IP 08 -06 This case was presented at the May 27, 2008 City Council meeting. Case #5: Discussion of Policies Regarding the Paving of Dirt Streets Background: Staff explained that there are three areas that have shown an interest in paving dirt streets; Chameleon Street, Collins Drive and Beatty Avenue. Staff has had a conversation with a resident on Chameleon Street that is interested in having the street paved, but was concerned about repercussions from the neighborhood if he passed around a petition. In the past, it has been an unwritten policy that the City would not initiate projects, even though by a 4/5 vote the Council could do that It was also discussed that for the last two street paving projects, the City has picked up 50% of the costs. Staff will check into whether this has been adopted as a formal policy. Motion to direct staff to contact all affected property owners by letter that live on unpaved roads to see if there is anything the City can do to foster petitions for feasibility studies for paving these roads. Action: Ratify the recommendation of the Public Works Committee. Case #2: Consider Policy for Construction Use of Sidewalks in Ramsey Town Center This case was postponed to the next Public Works Committee meeting. Case #3: Consider Request for Easement Vacation for 5939 151 Lane Background: City Engineer Jankowski stated that staff feels this request is reasonable and the area is not needed for drainage purposes and that it was designed to protect wetland on the property. Motion to recommend to the City Council that they support the vacation of the easement pending the results of the required public hearing. Action Action on this issue will be presented as a separate case on the June 13, 2008 City Council agenda.
