CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
CITY OF RAMSEY
ANOKA COUNTY
STATE OF MINNESOTA
The Ramsey City Council conducted a City Council Work Session on Tuesday, May 20, 2008, at
the Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota.
Members Present:
Also Present:
Mayor Thomas Gamec
Councilmember John Dehen
Councilmember David Elvig
Councilmember David Jeffrey
Councilmember Matt Look
Councilmember Mary Jo Olson
Councilmember Sarah Strommen
City Administrator Kurt Ulrich
Police Chief James Way
Police Office Manager Joleen Weimann
CALL TO ORDER
Mayor Gamec called the City Council Work Session to order at 7:26 p.m.
APPROVE AGENDA
The agenda was approved as submitted.
COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION
1) Fountain Assistance Request
City Administrator Ulrich stated that the City has received a request from Jim Deal of PSD, LLC
to sell the fountain that he is constructing to the City for an amount of $75,602. He stated that
Mr. Deal has indicated that he would take over the perpetual maintenance of the fountain, but it
would be considered part of the streetscape and open to the public. He noted on a map the
location of the fencing separating the fountain from the event center courtyard and noted that
public would only have access to the fountain on one side. He suggested that perhaps the
Council could consider splitting this amount because this is a public /private entity. He stated
that he has asked City Attorney Goodrich to determine if there is a way to utilize Letter of Credit
money for this type of streetscaping project.
Councilmember Dehen asked what would happen if Mr. Deal left town or sold the property. He
asked whether the new owners would be bound to the perpetual fountain maintenance agreement.
City Council Work Session / May 20, 2008
