Member absent: Councilmember Elvig. <br /> <br />Councilmember Dehen stated that Councilmember Elvig is out of the country, but he asked him <br />to pass on his congratulations to Jake on his accomplishments. <br /> <br />Brandon Paulson stated that he has been honored to work with Jake and noted that he thinks he is <br />the best Greco Roman wrestler he has seen in the last 25 years in the United States. <br /> <br />Police Chief Way stated that there is a golf tournament to benefit the Anoka High School <br />wrestling program scheduled for August 4, 2008, at Greenhaven and noted that they can contact <br />Todd Springer for more information. <br /> <br />PRESENTATIONS AND RECOGNITION - ANOKA COUNTY SESQUICENTENNIAL <br />EVENTS <br /> <br />Paul Pierce III, Vice President of Anoka County Historical Society, and Patti Kurak stated that <br />they wanted to officially thank Ramsey for their contributions to making Anoka County's <br />Sesquicentennial events a success. Mr. Pierce stated that the County was founded on May 23, <br />1857. He presented the City with a photograph of Henry Staff, a farmer and former County <br />Commissioner who lived in Ramsey. He noted that this picture was part of the exhibit that <br />traversed the County. He distributed commemorative mugs to the Council and asked them to <br />watch a short DVD that showed a montage of the events from the past year. After the movie, he <br />expressed his thanks to Patti Kurak for putting together this DVD. <br /> <br />CITIZEN INPUT <br /> <br />John Enstrom, 8702 - 1815t Avenue, stated that he would like to see if the City can get a bond or <br />certification from public utilities so that when they run through private property, the area is <br />restored to its original contour when they are finished. He stated that he just experienced a <br />problem when a power line company came in last fall and told him that they were just changing <br />the power poles because they were rotting, which he didn't agree with. He stated that when they <br />were finished, they had installed a pole that is twice the height of the old pole. He feels they <br />went about this in a fraudulent way and the poles are now way above tree height, which is an <br />eyesore. He stated that they dug the holes in the winter and now in the spring they have caved in <br />and they have brought in river rock to shore up the poles, so the area can longer be mowed. He <br />stated that he thinks they should be held accountable for destroying the property. <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec stated that staff can check into this and report back to Mr. Enstrom. <br /> <br />There being no additional Citizen Input, this portion of the meeting was closed at 7:38 p.m. <br /> <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br /> <br />City Administrator Ulrich stated that there is one item added under Consent Agenda #4, for <br />License Applications. He stated that he would also recommend postponing Case #5 on the <br /> <br />City Council / May 27, 2008 <br />Page 3 of 15 <br />
