Absent: None. <br /> <br />Wayne Skaff introduced himself to the EDA and others present. Chairperson Riley and the EDA <br />welcomed him to the group and thanked him for his interest in serving the community. <br /> <br />EDA BUSINESS <br /> <br />Case #1: <br /> <br />Consider Proposal to Develop a RetailEconomic Development Strategy <br /> <br />Economic Development Coordinator Sullivan introduced Brandon Norrell, Territory Division <br />Manager for Buxton. <br /> <br />Mr. Norrell presented a proposal to Develop: A Retail Economic Development Strategy. The <br />three major steps are: Identifying the Trade Area (drive time), Identifying the Customer <br />(psychographics) and Matching the Customers to Retailers. Case studies of Hesperia, CA, <br />PIano, Texas. Kennewick W A, Perris, CA and Dinuba, CA were presented showing how Buxton <br />operates. <br /> <br />Member Kiefer asked if they provided information to start up companies and if the study would <br />allow you to figure out why residents have decided to locate in Ramsey. <br /> <br />Mr. Norrell stated that leakage identification could help you communicate with entrepreneurs <br />and start-ups. Why Ramsey resident have decided to locate here would not be identified through <br />this study. <br /> <br />Member Skaff asked what the current economic situations of the region and nation is. <br /> <br />Mr. Norrell stated that it really depends on the area and the business. Generally speaking things <br />are a bit slower but there is still some significant activity taking place in all sectors. <br /> <br />Chairperson Riley asked whether about how much work would be done on the "ground' III <br />Ramsey. <br /> <br />Mr. Norrell stated that he would be the point person of the project and that he would be in <br />communication with staff at least once every two weeks. . Buxton will help get traffic count <br />information up front to begin the process. <br /> <br />Member Elvig commented that there have been two studies done previously in Ramsey (Thomas, <br />McComb). And wanted to know if Buxton would be different. Member Elvig wanted to know if <br />the study by Buxton could be used to steer development, help analyze and to determine what <br />might work here.
