Traffic control for safety of our neighborhood
Published by .Manna Quurberg on June 8, 2008
Category: City & Town Planning
Target: City of Ramsey
Description/History:
The intersection of 155` Lane NW and Hedgehog in the City of Ramsey, does not have
any traffic control signs such as a stop or yield sign. This is a main access road for the
residents and for the further reaching areas of the neighborhood. The increase of traffic is
causing more vehicles to meet at the intersection consistently. Et also appears the
majority of the traffic speed is becoming well over the 30 mph speed limit.
We the residents believe this intersection is becoming dangerous and is causing great
distress to the residents of this area. We are worried about the safety of our children,
family and friends.
A concern is some drivers are speeding down the road in order to hit the bump, which is
located in the middle of the intersection. With the maturing of trees on the corners, other
drivers and pedestrians are not able to see the oncoming traffic even if opposing drivers
are not speeding to hit the bump, This coupled with the fact that approaching vehicles to
this intersection do not have any traffic controls which to obey, is creating a potentially
dangerous situation.
The speed of traffic is also making it more difficult for some of the residents to safely
back out of their driveways. This and the abundance of wildlife, has created many
witnessed close calls for speeding accidents.
Other further reaching intersections in the neighborhood such as 154`h Lane NW and
Marmoset, 155` Lane NW and Marmoset, and 157` Lane NW and Hedgehog have yield
signs, We would also like to have traffic control instituted in the intersection that is in
question due to the growing levels of traffic.
The Ramsey Police department did place the speed trailer on 155` Lane NW on June 4,'
2008. This did seem to temporarily have drivers adhere to the traffic laws. We do
appreciate the effort of the City of Ramsey and the Ramsey Policy Department in helping
make drivers aware there is a concern with speed through the neighborhood,
