Background: <br />CONSIDER APPOINTMENTS FOR GRANT EVALUATIONS AND <br />RANKING SYSTEM (GEARS) COMMITTEE <br />I3y: Kurtis G. Ulrich, City Administrator <br />CASE # <br />Metro Cities contacted each community in Anoka, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey and Washington <br />Counties with preliminary information on an election process to fill positions on the Grant <br />Evaluation and Ranking System (GEARS) Committee. <br />Staff has attached background information explaining what the GEARS Committee does and <br />outlining the elections process, The date of the election is July 21; however, the committee <br />application deadline is July 14. <br />Each city is allowed one delegate voter; therefore, staff is requesting Council name a delegate <br />voter for the July 21 election meeting. Each city may submit the name of one elected official for <br />application to the GEARS Committee; staff is suggesting that a member be recommended for <br />candidacy. <br />Funding Source: <br />None required. <br />Council Action: <br />Motion to appoint as a delegate voter for the GEARS elections <br />and- <br />Motion to recommend as an applicant for the GEARS Committee. <br />Reviewed by: <br />City Clerk <br />City Administrator; <br />CC: 07/08/08 <br />—197— <br />
