APPROVAL FOR EXEMPTION FOR A GAMBLING LICENSE FOR THE ANOKA <br />COUNTY PHEASANTS FOREVER <br />By: Diana Lund, Finance Officer <br />Background: <br />The attached application is from the Anoka County Pheasants Forever for exemption from a <br />lawful gambling license to hold a raffle at Game Fair in Ramsey on August 17, 2008. The Anoka <br />County Pheasants Forever meets all of the requirements which allow them to remain exempt <br />from licensing, primarily from the standpoint that the commodities to be raffled are valued at less <br />than $12,000. <br />Approval requires nothing more than a motion followed by a letter to the Gambling Control <br />Board, while if the request is denied, a formal resolution for denial would need to be prepared <br />and submitted to the Gambling Control Board. <br />Funding Source: <br />None Required <br />Staff Recommendation: <br />Staff recommends Council approve the exemption from a lawful gambling license for the Anoka <br />County Pheasants Forever tto hold a raffle at the Game Fair in Ramsey. <br />Council Action: <br />Motion to recommend Council approve the exemption from a lawful gambling license for the <br />Anoka County Pheasants Forever to hold a raffle at Game Fair on August 17, 2008 and authorize <br />staff to submit a letter to the Gambling Control Board stating approval. <br />Reviewed By: <br />City Administrator: <br />Consent: 7 -8 -08 <br />CONSENT <br />—21— <br />
