City Announces Community Center Focus Groups for this Summer A community center can be an exciting addition to any communi- ty. The city is in the process of gath- ering information on what you would lil(e to see in a community center if one were to be built in Ramsey. Over the next three months, the city will conduct focus groups at the Ramsey Municipal Center to gather information regarding the types of facilities and services the community feels are important components of a community center. These focus groups are intended to be organized by group types (athletic groups, community groups, elected and appointed officials, etc.) and will wrap up by the end of summer. All are welcome to attend any of the scheduled sessions. The city is also working with private fitness and hotel providers to determine the feasibility of a public/private partnership for this proj ect. The information gathered in these focus groups will be an im- portant part of working with private entities interested in building within the city. The information gathered will be used in matching the desired components of the facility, square footage requirements, and financing of the proj ect. Tentative dates for the focus groups are: · Wednesday, July 16 · Thursday, July 17 (2:00 pm) · Thursday, July 24 · Wednesday, August 6 · Monday, August 18 · Tuesday, August 19 (2:00 pm) · Monday, August 25 All focus groups will be held from 6:00-8:00 pm in the Alexander Ramsey Room at the Ramsey Mu- nicipal Center unless otherwise indi- cated. The Ramsey Municipal Center is located at 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, between Ramsey and Armstrong Boulevards in Ramsey Town Center. Written comments are welcome if you are unable to attend one of these seSSIons. The city of Ramsey will also be sending a mailing to the vari- 0us community groups, elected and appointed officials, athletic groups, etc., personally inviting them to tal(e part in these important conversations. Members of these focus groups may form a tasl( force to further refine the desired features of the facility. The task force would serve as an advisory board to the City Council and poten- tial private partners during the plan- ning stages of the community center. Notice of Candidate Filing for the 2008 Election Notice is hereby given that a primary election will be held in the city of Ramsey on Tuesday, Septem- ber 9, 2008, and a general election will be held on Tuesday, November 4, 2008, for the purpose of electing candidates for the offices listed in this notice. The filing period for these offices begins on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, and ends on Tuesday, July 15, 2008. Office hours for filing are 8:00 am to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday, except Friday, July 4, as city offices are closed in observance of Independence Day. Candidates for the following offices file with the City Clerk, City of Ramsey, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, MN 55303. A filing fee of $5 will be charged.
