<br />Associate Planner DaInes stated their general sign code prohibits additional billboards but it does <br />not regulate the conversion from regular billboards to electronic billboards and this ordinance <br />change would limit the electronic feature to thirty percent of the current billboard and new <br />electronic signs would be restricted to something in the area of 30-35 square feet. <br /> <br />Commissioner VanScoy stated if they come up with regulations on signs, would they apply to <br />existing signs or only new signs. <br /> <br />Associate Planner DaInes stated the nature of the sign is that it can be changed at any time so she <br />did not know the answer and would have to check with the City Attorney regarding this. <br /> <br />Commissioner Van Scoy stated he did not foresee a problem because the research was pretty <br />clear that the transition was distracting. <br /> <br />Commissioner Brauer asked if interactive electronic signs were looked at. <br /> <br />Associate Planner DaInes stated they have not looked into this and it may be difficult to regulate <br />because of the content basis. She stated the speed at which it changes can be addressed. She was <br />looking to the Planning Commission to find out what criteria they had in mind for the amount of <br />time for change and letter size. <br /> <br />Vice Chairperson Levine stated he was more inclined to look at the flashing, attention grabbing <br />signs and the letter size was not a big issue with him. <br /> <br />Commissioner VanScoy thought staff could look at the current bank signs to find out what they <br />have their signs set at for a general timing basis. <br /> <br />Case #6: <br /> <br />Staff Update <br /> <br />Noted. <br /> <br />Case #7: <br /> <br />Zoning Bulletin <br /> <br />Noted. <br /> <br />OTHER COMMISSION INPUT <br /> <br />1) Discussion Item: Discuss July Planning Commission Meeting Date <br /> <br />Vice Chairperson Levine thought they should move the regular July 3rd meeting to possibly the <br />following week.
