Recent media
headlines have focused on how vacant. homes in neighborhoods can have a negative impact on
surrounding properties. Communities are struggling with the effects of boarded up, vacant single-family
homes. To date city budgets have been the main resource addressing these extra costs and dedicating staff
time to monitoring these properties.

. Responding to requests from cities, the Anolca County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (ACHRA)
recently authorized the implementation of a Neighborhood Stabilization Program. This program will use
local and federal funding sources to purchase vacant homes, make necessary improvements and sell them
to qualified first-time homebuyers. The ACHRA v,rill partner with Two Rivers Conununity Land Trust in .
the implementation of this program.

An informational meeting will be held to introduce this program to elected officials and city staff on:
Wednesday, August 6,2008 at 1:00 p.m.
in Board Room 705 of the Anoka County Government Center

At this meeting we willprovide the following infOImation:
.
