Recent media <br />headlines have focused on how vacant. homes in neighborhoods can have a negative impact on <br />surrounding properties. Communities are struggling with the effects of boarded up, vacant single-family <br />homes. To date city budgets have been the main resource addressing these extra costs and dedicating staff <br />time to monitoring these properties. <br /> <br />. Responding to requests from cities, the Anolca County Housing and Redevelopment Authority (ACHRA) <br />recently authorized the implementation of a Neighborhood Stabilization Program. This program will use <br />local and federal funding sources to purchase vacant homes, make necessary improvements and sell them <br />to qualified first-time homebuyers. The ACHRA v,rill partner with Two Rivers Conununity Land Trust in . <br />the implementation of this program. <br /> <br />An informational meeting will be held to introduce this program to elected officials and city staff on: <br />Wednesday, August 6,2008 at 1:00 p.m. <br />in Board Room 705 of the Anoka County Government Center <br /> <br />At this meeting we willprovide the following infOImation: <br />.
