, CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION Topic Report: Presentation of Alternative Land Use Scenarios For The 2008 Comprehensive Plan By: Sylvia Frolik, Asst. Community Development Director Background: Planning staff and Bonestroo (planning consultants) will be presenting three alternative land use scenarios to serve as a basis for the 2008 Comprehensive Plan. These scenarios were developed based on the Ramsey3 initiatives and community discussions that have taken place over the past 18 months. ~ Observations: Following the presentation of the land use alternatives to the City Council and Planning Commission, the next step in the process is to present these alternatives to the residents for comment and feedback. It is anticipated that this step will be accomplished at two separate community open houses the week after Labor Day. Based on the feedback from the Planning Commission, City Council and the public, Bonestroo will proceed to assemble the draft Comprehensive Plan based on the favored land use scenario. Attachm.ents: Under separate cover is a packet of materials from Bonestroo including cover memo, copy of power point, and maps of Land Use Scenarios 1,2 and 3. Action Statement: City Staff and Bonestroo are looking for feedback from the Planning Commission and City Council on the preferred land use scenario. In the opinion of City Staff, Land Use Scenario #2 most closely reflects what the residents have said are important issues to be considered in the City's future growth plan. City Staff is requesting City Council direction to schedule two community open houses the week after Labor Day to present the land use alternatives to City residents for input.
