Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that there were some trees scheduled for removal to allow
for a better resident view into the island area. He stated that they have not seen the blue green
algae, which is the one that can make dogs sick. He advised that there are a lot of residents that
could manage their lawns better near the pond, as the abundance of nutrients is what makes the
pond that color. He explained that they did install the fountain and aerator to circulate the
oxygen better throughout the pond.

Michael Max also addressed the Commission. He reported that he was aware of a citizen
petition for open space that would increase the amount of taxes and use that increase to purchase
land for open space. He advised that he was not promoting the issue or advising whether it was
good or bad. He simply thought that it was an interesting idea to preserve the land for open space
while it was still available. He advised that the petitions would be floating around the city.

Mrs. Max stated that the best thing for ticks is to check yourself and your pets when you come
inside. She advised that the tick would need to be on a being for 72 hours for that person to
develop limes disease. She thought Mr. Bowen could talk to his neighbors about reducing the
amount of fertilizer they use in regard to the green color in the pond.

APPROVE AGENDA

Parks Supervisor Riverblood requested to add discussion for a volleyball court at Woodland
Green Park, fences for the baseball fields at Alpine Park, and Super Soccer Saturday to the
Commission input section ofthe agenda.

Motion by Commissioner Shryock, seconded by Commissioner Backous to approve the Park and
Recreation Commission meeting agenda for the meeting dated July 10, 2008 as amended.

Motion carried.
