<br />Commissioner Barr stated that she thought that they should have parking for safety. <br /> <br />Jeff stated that it would be reasonable to have access to the park for elderly. He stated that <br />whatever parking they have has to accommodate the minimum but should not deter from the <br />natural setting. <br /> <br />Jason stated that when they come back to the Commission they will have some concepts based <br />on what they heard tonight and will show different ideas to see what they like and do not like. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated that they had done no parking at Riverdale Park but they <br />ended up having to add it i:p. because people have to stop on the road to unload coolers and such. <br /> <br />A female resident stated that the emphasis at this park should be on wildlife education and that <br />they could teach about the natural succession of lakes and ponds. <br /> <br />Jason stated that was a great idea. <br /> <br />Jeff stated that he picked up on the need to have a connection to the school. He advised that at <br />the next meeting they would bring more information on what is in the surrounding parks so that <br />they do not overlap in this park. He questioned if they wanted to have structured areas for <br />pICnICS. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock stated that a few gazebo type shelters would be nice, but nothing that <br />would encourage groups of 50 people to get together. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns stated that the area should be large enough for a few people to stop and eat or <br />if bikers wanted to stop and get out ofthe rain. <br /> <br />Jason questioned what sort of interaction they are going to want with the lake. <br /> <br />One resident stated that the lake is not big enough for kayaks and canoes. <br /> <br />Another resident advised that it usually you put piers in where there are fish. <br /> <br />Jeff stated that it sounded like there should be a connection to the other parks and the school and <br />the north side of the lake should be kept natural. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated that he heard a couple thoughts for an observation pier or <br />dock. He stated that they could possibly put some fish in and use that as an opportunity to <br />educate that aspect. <br /> <br />One resident questioned if the water was safe in the lake and if they would want to encourage <br />kids to be in that water. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that the lake is about four feet deep and stated that there are <br />a few feet of clear open water.
