Chairperson Johns advised that Commissioner Hansen could go in with the later group and if
something were to conflict with his schedule, someone could stay from the early shift to help out.
She stated that herself and Commissioners LaMere and Shryock would take the early shift and
Commissioners Backous, Hansen, Barr, and Erickson would take the second shift. She advised
that those of them that take the early shift usually end up staying later anyway. She stated that it
seemed to be smaller and more condensed than prior years. She advised that she would send an
email to Commissioner Erickson to advise her of the schedule and asked that Civil Engineer
Linton do the same. She reminded everyone that the expo would be at the Municipal Center
from 8-1 and would include a tree sale and presentations.

Civil Engineer Linton advised that there would be two working watershed models along with a
tree house of horrors.

Commissioner Shryock stated that there would also be a drawing and advised that if you attend
one ofthe four presentations on rain gardens or landscaping you would be entered in a drawing to
win a tree. She advised that the deadline for the preorder trees would be April 4th.

Case #4:

Continue 2008 Park and Trail Map Updating

Commissioner Shryock advised that when she went through it there were a few areas that were
not marked correctly. She thought that they should look at delineating the trail system as far as
off road and on road trails. She stated that when they have a street route that they want people to
use that they should mark that as a bike route so that until there is a full map, people would be
able to follow a bike route to connect with another trail.

Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated that they have done a little research at the staff level and the
concern was with no liability concerns with on street connections to trails. He advised that none
had been found. He advised that they could take Commissioner Shryock's concept and map it so
that people would be able to look for trails before they went out. He stated that it would be low
cost. He stated that they could divide the City into overlapping squares and map with that. He
advised that even with a map in hand you could still have trouble navigating when you get lost.

Chairperson Johns stated that one thing that would have been easier for her is to know where the
business developments were and what the areas are zoned for. She thought it would be nice to
incorporate what they did at Cottonwood Park. She stated that if they knew that an area was
zoned for business it would be nice to incorporate that. so that they were able to get the
experience. She stated that by looking at the map she was not sure where those areas were.

Civil Engineer Linton stated that they could take a stab. at showing something. He thought that
the more they added to the map, the harder it would be to read.

Chairperson Johns advised that she was just talking adding those things for planning purposes.

Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated that they City and the Park and Recreation Board would
continue to update as things go into the ground and then annually. He stated that they might see
minor changes in zoning as they are in the process of updating the comp plan and that they would

Park and Recreation CommissionlMarch 13, 2008
Page 9 of 11
