<br />Board Member McDilda advised that Embrace Open Space had funded the project and were <br />familiar with how to conduct the surveys and explained that the citizen group had turned the <br />project over to them. He stated that Embrace Open Space had worked closely with Andover and <br />other surrounding cities that had recently been s1.lccessful with referendums on the ballot. <br /> <br />Board Member Max advised that the only statistically relevant way to do a survey would be to do <br />a random survey. <br /> <br />Board Member McOilda commented that he did not see any wetland buffer signs in the park. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood questioned if Board Member McDilda would be interested in <br />volunteering to assist in installing some of the signs. <br /> <br />Board Member McDilda advised that he would be happy to volunteer for that. <br /> <br />Councilmember Sara Strommen advised that she would also volunteer for that task. <br /> <br />Case #2: <br /> <br />Approve the 2008 Parks elP Work Plan <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverbloodapologized tor not having this case in writing and included in the <br />agenda. He advised that this was brought forward for better housekeeping and also so that they <br />could bring this in front of the City Council in August. He stated that they would like to get <br />some of the action items onto dockets for the Council. <br /> <br />He advised that they have plans and specifications for the irrigation of Rivers Bend Park, and <br />that the skate park for Alpine Park is already on the Council agenda for the August 26th meeting <br />and explained that the anticipated low bidder had sold their company to someone in Missouri and <br />the production had been stopped as the employees left the company. . <br /> <br />He advised that the phase three for Elmcrest Park would include a playground and a building to <br />accompany the park and explained that those would be important in order to host tournaments. <br />He stated that in the same way that the park at Titterud has a tree theme, they could incorporate a <br />theme into the Elmcrest playground. He stated that one of the Minnesota Naturalists is currently <br />working with him to develop a geology theme. <br /> <br />Riverblood reminded the Commission that there is a drinking fountain included in the CIP each <br />year and advised that it includes a water fountain and accompanying pet fountain. He advised <br />that the next water fountain would occur at Rivers Bend Park. <br /> <br />He also discussed a . possible project for a fishing pier for the Mississippi River, which was <br />planned to be a joint project between the City and the DNR. He advised that half of the funding <br />for the $28,000 project was intended to come from the DNR but they had now discovere9 that <br />the funding is not available. He advised that he would still like to get the approval of the Council <br />to stay on track for that project occurring in 2009.
