Sponsor a workshop to educate the public about tla:e systez~a's Wellhead Protection Plan. <br />~. Work with MDH and MRWA to attend these .workshops. <br />3. Use a packet containing pamphlets and other printed information to inform property <br />owners about Wellhead Protection management techniques. <br />4. Obtain a video from MDH or MRWA concerning well maintenance, leaking tanks, and <br />Class V wells, which maybe shown to local government or groups ofproperty owners. <br />5. Show one of these videos on a local cable station. <br />6. Create a video and show it through a local cable company. <br />7. Develop news releases, which can be used in newspaper articles, or as public service <br />announcements. <br />8. Create newsletter articles about proper wellhead protection, and also provide them to <br />local or statewide newsletters. <br />~, Develop a newsletter speci~aally for landowners in the WHP area... <br />1 Q. Set up a permartent display at a location frequently visited by cozxaznunity mertabers, <br />11. LTse a display. at a seasonal event. <br />12. Contact each property owner in a WHF area to educate him or her directly. <br />13. Present wellhead protection information to county boards, city councils, and townslaip_ <br />boards. <br />14. Sponsor special events such as AWelcome to Wellhead Protection." <br />1S. Azxange a tour that demonstrates proper management techniques for wells, tanks, and <br />disposal wells. <br />16. Create a children's water festival for 4th graders, with hands-on activities.- <br />17. Offer water plant tours for schools or land- owners on a regular basis, or during national <br />water week. <br />1$. Obtain a groundwater model and arrange to have demonstrations at local schools, <br />churches, service clubs, fairs and other public activities. <br />19. Develop a slide or overhead presentation for local groups regarding the system's WHP <br />plan. <br />1Vleasures to be Taken Through Services: <br />1. Send annual reminder notices to property owners reminding them of proper wellhead <br />protection management techniques. <br />?. Cooperate with the county health department and MDH in sampling water supply wells <br />within the system's WHP area(s) for NC73i anions and cations. <br />3.
