Lower Rum River Water Management Organization
3rd Generation Water Management Plan
By: Chris Anderson, Environmental Coordinator

Background:

CASE # 1

The Lower Rum River Water Management Organization (LRRWMO) is responsible for the
surface water resources within the Rum River Watershed south of the City's northern .limits and
includes all of Ramsey and the City of Anoka and portions of Coon Rapids and Andover (see
Exhibit 1). Every ten years, Water Management Organizations are required to review their
watershed plans and update their goals for the next ten years. The LRRWMO is currently in the
process of updating its plan and is seeking public input on issues of concern within the
watershed. A survey is being prepared that will be distributed to watershed residents at random
and also to organizations with a known interest in water related issues.

The Environmental Policy Board is an organization from which comment and input would be
valued in the development of this plan. It is uncertain whether the actual survey form will be
available at the time of the October meeting. However, City Staff should likely have a listing of
the questions from the survey available for your consideration and discussion. It would be useful
to have a joint statement from the Board on this topic. In addition, individual survey
questionnaires will be distributed or mailed to board members.

Recommendation

. Board. members should be prepared to review survey questions and provide feedback or discuss
possible surface water resources concerns/issues.

EPB Action

Based on discussion.

EPB: 10/6/08
