<br />Councilmember Jeffrey introduced the following resolution and moved for its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #08-08-141 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION RECOGNIZING THE OUTSTANDING CONTRIBUTION OF THE <br />RAMSEY3 STEERING COMMITTEE FOR THE BETTERMENT OF THE COMMUNITY, <br />NOW AND INTO THE FUTURE. <br /> <br />WHEREAS, in 2005, a small group of residents came together with a common passion to <br />explore ways in which to engage extensive public participation in charting the City's future growth <br />principles; and -'-/ <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this group of residents had the conviction in their mission to partner with the <br />City and successfully obtain grant funding in the amount of $50,000 from the McKnight Foundation <br />for what was to become known as "Ramsey3"; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, this group of determined residents evolved into the Ramsey3 Steering Committee <br />and spent the next 2 years collaborating with community residents, consultants, and City Staff to host <br />informational forums and Open Space Technology (OST) sessions to provide residents with the tools <br />to define what they 'want this place to be'; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Committee efforts culminated in collaborating with a 'Ramsey3 Working <br />Group' made up of residents and stakeholders to clearly define a Vision and Values Statement for the <br />City. <br /> <br />NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF <br />RAMSEY, ANOKA COUNTY, STATE OF MINNESOTA, as follows: <br /> <br />"The foresight commitment and leadership of Joe Mc Dilda, Ralph Brauer, Sarah Strommen <br />and Will Thompsen, as the Ramsey3 steering committee, has empowered the residents of <br />Ramsey with the tools to connect with their neighbors and policy makers and take ownership in <br />the community's future growth. Through their countless volunteer hours they have guided the <br />community into innovative processes that have engaged public participation beyond <br />expectation. It is with a great deal of gratitude that the city council recognizes this group of <br />four residents that came together as a positive force for the betterment of the community now <br />and into the future." <br /> <br />The motion for the adoption of the foregoing resolution was duly seconded by Councilmember Olson, <br />and upon vote being taken thereon, the following voted in favor thereof: <br /> <br />Mayor Gamec <br />Councilmember Jeffrey <br />Councilmember Olson <br />Councilmember Dehen <br />Councilmember Elvig <br />Councilmember Look <br />Councilmember Strommen <br />
