UPDATE ON ODD/EVEN SPRINKLING BAN By; John Nelsen, Utilities Supervisor Background . CASE # On July 120' 2004 City Council adopted the add/even sprinkling Code #4,40,06 Sub 10, Th.►s code was put into place to assure that there will be anadequate arnount of water available for all residents on the City of Ramsey's water system, it is also important that there is enough water available for the Fire department in the event of a fire. City Staff has sent out a total of 137 certified letters to residents, townhome associations and businesses that were in violation, of the sprinkling ban. Public works personnel utilize a digital camera to capture the incident, it also prints the date and time on each image, Where were no repeat offenders in 2008 so no fines were issued this season. Public Education City staff made a lot of effort this season to educate the residents on the odd/even sprinkling bate, Staff had the regulation added to all City of Ramsey utility bills, web site updates, odd/even sprinkling signs were placed throughout the City that were relocated many times this summer, And often stopping to talk to residents Who were outside and explaining the ordinance to them, Staff also returned many Galls to residents and businesses who received a certified letter, Summer water usage The City of Ramsey pumped 320,720,982 gallons of water dune thru .August this season.
