Since then,
Staff has worked to interest contractors in this pl-oject. Several local repair services were
contacted and Merrill Dykema of AAA Handyman Service, Inc., responded.

Mr. Dykema has agreed to work with the City to do the inter/or finish work, i.e.
installation of the wainscoting and chair rail; installation of interior and fi-ont doors;
ceramic tiling and installation of bathroom sink and commode; and interior painting.
Staff will be coordinating this work with Mr. Dykema according to the original building
plans as found in the file and an estimate will be provided to the City. It is estimated that
that this proposal will be based on $15.00 per hour.

Grant Reimer, who has experience in tuckp0inting, has a~eed to do the tuckpointing of
Old Town Hall. He will begin that work later this Fall once Iris workload has lightened.
Initially, he will work on weekends and then as time and weather allow,, he will devote
increasingly more time during the week to this project.-

Staff continues to search for a contractor to finish the HVAC work. Mr. Dykema is
unable to do this project as it requires the bending of aluminum for the ducting and he
doesn't have the appropriate equipment.

Council Action:
Based on discussion.

Reviewed by:
City Administrator

Copies also Distributed to:
Public Works Director

C: 09/26/2000

City shared/old town hall renovation.cas

-161-
