f
.",--

CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION
Topic Report: Review & Discuss Special
Events Permit Request by High School
Reunion Tours@ L.L.L.P.
By: Jo Thieling, City Clerk

Background:

Staff has received a Special Events Permit request from High School Reunion Tours@
L.L.L.P. (HSRT). The proposed event will be a benefit/fund raiser; however, the intent is
to return 5 percent of the profit back to the City. The event would be for various schools
from the Twin City Area, joining together for. a multi.school reunion. A representative(s)
of HSRT will attend the work session to review the proposed plan and to answer any
questions Council may have.

The event, if approved, will take place at Central Park on July 18 & 19,2009. They have
received permission from Saint Katharine Drexel to use their property for overflow
parking. There would be live music on Saturday and they would like Council to consider
allowing the music to go until midnight. The music on Sunday would be Country Gospel
and would not go late.

Attached for your review is the Special Events Permit application. along with background
information, and a proposal which outlines what HSR r is and their plan for this event. I
met with Police Chief Jim Way and Fire Chief Dean Kapler to talk about any concerns
andlor questions they had and then followed up with applicants Rudy Peterson and
Patricia Sykes. I've included those questions and answers in the packet for your
information.

Council Action:

Based upon discussion.

Reviewed by:

City Clerk
Police Chief
Fire Chief . ~)/'
A~sistant ~i~y Administrato ... .~
City AdmInIstrator: . ..

-0

CCWS:

10/21/08
