Draft Tower Ordinance <br /> <br />9.15.07 <br /> <br />9.15.08 <br /> <br />Tower and Antenna Design Requirements. Proposed or modified towers and <br />antennas shall meet the following design requirements: <br /> <br />Towers and antennas shall be designed to blend into the surrounding <br />environment through the use of color and design, except in instances where <br />the color is dictated by federal or state authorities as the Federal Aviation <br />Administration. <br /> <br />Commercial wireless telecommunication service towers shall be of a <br />monopole design unless the City Council determines that an alternative design <br />is preferred in cases where structural or design considerations, neighborhood <br />compatibility, locationaI availability, or the number of potential co-locations <br />warrants this consideration. <br /> <br />(c) <br /> <br />All towers must be designed so that the tower site and setbacks will contain <br />guyed wires, debris, and the tower in the event of a collapse, except towers of <br />monopole design. <br /> <br />To,vet Setbacks. Towers shall conform with each of the following requirements: <br /> <br />No part of any communication antenna or tower, equipment, guyed wires, or <br />braces shall at any time extend across or over any part of the public fight-of- <br />way, public street, highway, sidewalk, or recreation trail. <br /> <br />Towers shall meet the setbacks of the underlying zoning district with the <br />exception of industrial zoning districts, where towers may encroach into the <br />side or rear setback area, provided that the side or rear property line abuts <br />another non-residential zoned property and the tower does not encroach upon <br />any easements. <br /> <br />Towers shall maintain a minimum setback equal to 1.5 times the height of the <br />tower from any residential dwellings located on parcels adjacent to the tower <br />site.
