<br />Commissioner Backous stated NLS did not have a strong opinion with respect to meeting space, <br />but did suggest that the meeting space be open/flexible/modular. He stated that NLS requested <br />the storage area include some climate controlled areas and they also requested a work bench in <br />the storage area. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock suggested having two separate storage areas, one for use by coaches to <br />store their equipment and the other storage area should be locked and available for use only by <br />City staff. <br /> <br />Commissioner Backous agreed with Commissioner Shryock's suggestion. He stated that NLS <br />requested a lockable office space with an outside roll down window for team check-in, etc. He <br />explained that NLS also requested an upper level area with windows on the field side for <br />tournament monitoring, including weather monitoring; this upper level could also be open with a <br />railing around the perimeter. He stated this area could also be used for meeting space. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated the input obtained by Commissioner Backous will be helpful <br />to staff in planning the building. He then presented several photographs of park buildings in <br />other cities, including Miller Park in Eagan; these buildings ranged in price from $122 per square <br />foot up to $232 per square foot. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock stated she would like to see a building design that stands out and is <br />unique to the City. <br /> <br />Commissioner Backous suggested exploring various types of energy for the building, including <br />wind, solar, and/or geothermal. He stated the building could serve as an educational tool <br />regarding energy use. <br /> <br />Consensus of the Commission was to direct staff and Commissioner Backous to II;1ove forward <br />with the design of a community building for Elincrest Park. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood stated the Park and Recreation Commission should plan to present <br />its recommendation to the City Council in 2008 and ask for Council's input on the process. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns expressed the Park and Recreation Commission's thanks to Commissioner <br />Backous for working with staff and providing stakeholder research on the community building. <br /> <br />Commissioner Barr left the meeting at 7:47 p.m. <br /> <br />COMMISSION/STAFF INPUT <br /> <br />.
