Bids <br />were received from five contractors for providing a 1 ½ inch bituminous overlay on 9.32 miles of <br /> <br />city streets. Miller, Inc. <br />Bauerly Companies <br />Midwest Asphalt <br />Hardrives, Inc. <br />North Valley, Inc. <br /> <br />Engineer's Estimate <br /> <br />$349,968.75 <br />$365,415.00 <br />$368,475.00 <br />$368,913.00 <br />$373,635.00 <br /> <br />$326,729.00 <br /> <br />As can be noted above, this low bid is $23,239 or 7.1% over the feasibility study estimate, which <br />was prepared in January of 2000. The effective unit pr/ce of bituminous is $27.13 per ton <br />compared with $24.60 in 1999. The project has anticipated $71,878 in overhead and <br />contingencies, which may be used to offset the impact of the overage. <br /> <br />W.B. Miller Inc. has successfully completed the City's overlay projects in 1993, 1994, 1995, <br />1997 and 1998. The firm has also performed other paving projects within the City. <br /> <br />Recommendation: <br /> <br />Staff recommends the 2000 Street Maintenance be awarded to W. B. Miller, Inc. in the amOunt <br />of $349,968.75. <br /> <br />Action: <br /> <br />Motion to award the 2000 Street Maintenance Program to W.B.
