I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

CONSIDER REQUESTING THAT ANOKA COUNTY ELECTRONICALLY
RECORD AND TELEVISE THE REGULARLY SCHEDULED MEETINGS
OF THE ANOKA COUNTY COMMISSIONERS.

Kim Moore-Sykes, Assistant City Administrator

Background:
Terry O'Connell, Franchise Administrator for the Quad Cities Cable Communications
Commission, received a letter from Richard Swanson, Chair of the North Metro
Telecommunications Commission requesting support from QCTV member cities to encourage
the Anoka County Board to record and/or televise their regularly scheduled meetings. This
request was taken up by the Quad Cities Cable Commission to review. It was their decision to
pass the request on to the City of Ramsey for further consideration.

Observations:
North Metro is interested in having the Anoka County Board meetings cabtecast to the residents
of Anoka County. As their letter indicates, they are supportive of making these public meetings
more available to residents by requesting that the County broadcast or replay them on local
government access television stations.

Council Action:
Adopt the attached Resolution requesting that the Anoka County consider electronically record
and play back or televise the regular scheduled Anoka County Board meetings; or

Move not to adopt the attached Resolution requesting that the Anoka County consider
electronically record and play back or televise the regular scheduled Anoka County Board
meetings.

Reviewed by:
City Administrator
Assistant City Administrator

CC: 6/13/00

Users\Shared\06132000 QCTV case and resol.cas

-281-
