Case # 1 BUXTON STUDY UPDATE By: Sean Sullivan, Economic Development Coordinator Background: . . On October 9, 2008 Brandon Norrell, from Buxton, presented the fIndings of the Retail Market Analysis for Town Center and the 167th Commercial Node. The study came back with a significant number of matches. Staff was directed to review the matches and to bring back a list for review. Attached is a list of matches from the Buxton list and a few additional suggestions based on Staff discussion. As part of this study, Buxton will look at the businesses that were not .on the match list to see if they are viable for the study areas. The EDA should review and/or modify this list before we roll it out to the business' community and ask Buxton to proceed with . the individual marketing packages. The list of businesses and key stakeholders is also attached for review. The EDA should review this lIst and make any additions or subtractions that are warranted. The EDA will need to . coordinate with Brandon to set up a presentation tailored to this group. Staffhas contacted Brandon and he would be tentatively available for the Week of December 15; otherwise we would be looking at January The EDA should select a date and direct Staff to get invitations out to the businesses and stakeholders on the list. . Funding Source: . EDA Levy / Private contribution Recommendation: Adopt a list of approximately 20 matches to be submitted ~or Buxton to send out marketing pursuit packages. . And Authorize Staff to coordinate with Buxton to schedule a meeting for the businesses and stakeholders and to mail out invitations.
