CASE #2

SUNFISH LAKE PARK - APPROVE PARTIAL SCEMATIC PLA.NS
By: Murk Riverbloou, Parks Supervisor

Bnckground:

The Master Plan for Sunfish Lake Park was approved by City Council earlier this year, with an
appropriation from the Park Trust Fund to develop Pll;ms and Specification in the fall of 2008.
This process is concluding, and is generally on schedule. The intention is to receive approval of
these specifications by the Park and Recreation Commission over the next two months, and seek
authorization from Council to let Bids for the park's development for the spring 0:f2009.

Observations:

Attached to this cas~ are several drawings for the various park features that will accompany the
written specifications. These are the entrance sign, kiosk, shelter, pier, and canoe rack. It is
anticipated that all the other elements of the parks development, as well as the estimated project
costs will be available for December's regular meeting. In addition, the interpretive signage,
developed in partnership with Altoka Ramsey Community Colleges' biology program will also
be presented at this same meeting. While the entire Plans and SpecifIcations are expected to be
completed for consideration next month; it is expected to be a longer meeting. Reviewing these
5 park amenities now will allow more time for discussing in greater detail, the other design and
specification considerations.

Commission Action:

Motion to approve schematic plans for 5 elements of the Sunfish Lake Park project, based upon
discussion. -

Reviewed by:
Director of Public Works/Principal City Engineer

P~R: 11/13/08

5
