The Ramsey City Council conducted a City Council Work Session on Monday, November 10, <br />2008, at the Ramsey Municipal Center, 7550 Sunwood Drive NW, Ramsey, Minnesota. <br />Members Present: <br />Also Present: <br />CITY COUNCIL WORK SESSION <br />CITY OF RAMSEY <br />ANOKA COUNTY <br />STATE OF MINNESOTA <br />Mayor Thomas Gamec <br />Councilmember John Dehen (arrived at 5:44 p.m.) <br />Councilmember David Elvig <br />Councilmember David Jeffrey <br />Councilmember Mary Jo Olson <br />Councilmember Sarah Strommen <br />Member Absent: Councilmember Matt Look <br />City Administrator Kurtis G. Ulrich <br />Assistant City Administrator Heidi A. Nelson <br />Community Development Director Amber Miller <br />Police Chief James Way <br />CALL TO ORDER <br />Mayor Gamec called the City Council Work Session to order at 5:36 p.m. <br />APPROVE AGENDA <br />The agenda was approved as submitted. <br />COUNCIL TOPICS FOR DISCUSSION <br />1) Use of Abatement for Zoning/Building/Public Nuisance Violations <br />Community Development Director Miller stated that the Council has discussed most of these <br />issues before, but noted that this looks at the new abatement process and several items that do not <br />fall under the abatement process. She stated that at a previous meeting the Council suggested <br />that the City look at a graduated fee schedule for the fines, especially for repeat offenders. She <br />reviewed some of the non - abatable violations. She stated that the chart included in the packet <br />shows the current enforcement and the proposed method of enforcement and also provided the <br />graduated fee schedule details for the first, second and third violation. She stated that these are <br />issues that are currently in the code, but staff is working on updating the code to get more <br />specificity. <br />City Council Work Session / November 10, 2008 <br />Page 1 of 9 <br />
