<br />CASE # I <br /> <br />DISCUSSION ON ACQUISITION OF 7131 1661'11 AVENUE N'\V, RELATED TO <br />IiVIPROVEMENT PROJECT#08-27, 1671'H AVENUE N'\V REALIGNMENT <br />By: Tim Himmer, Assistant City Engineer <br /> <br />Background: <br /> <br />On August 12, 2008, City Council authorized staft' to begin negotiations for the required property <br />acquisitions for the realignment of 16th Avenue NW. During that meeting, an alignment was <br />chosen and staff was directed to begin discussions with the affected property owners on <br />acquiring the land necessary to complete the project. The majority of the discussion centered on <br />the property at 7131 - 166th Avenue NW, and how we might be able to minimize the amount of <br />land required to be obtained. <br /> <br />Staff revised the alignment of the proposed road curvature by reducing the design speed for that <br />curve from 30 mph to 25 mph, thus reducing the proposed acquisition by one-third. The land to <br />be acquired, based upon this revision, is approximately 2,400 square feet. An offer from the <br />property owner was reviewed and rejected at a closed session on September 8, 2008. Based <br />upon direction at that meeting a counteroffer was prepared and presented to the property owner <br />on September 12, 2008.
