Public Works Director Olson stated that the City. could explore that idea before MnDot is approached. City Administrator Ulrich suggested that those alternatives be developed in further detail before a proposal is made to MnDot. No action taken. Councilmember Dehen stated that he really thinks that this is something that .the -City should defer to MnDot instead of finding side remedies. Chair Elvig stated that may be the ultimate conclusion after the City has looked that this. more closely. Case#5: Consider No Parking Restrictions at Corners in Ramsey Town Center City Engineer Jankowski stated that there have been complaints on Sapphire ,Street .about vehicles parking so close to the corner that visibility is impaired. He stated that the City has the ability to restrict parking within 20 feet of a crosswalk at an intersection. He stated that the curb can be marked with paint, signage that says. no parking to corner, or -with wording on -the curb itself, that says no parking. He stated that staff is recommending painting 20 feet of curb and do it, in the future, as needed: Chair Elvig asked if the curb has to be painted yellow. City Engineer Jankowski stated that the colors allowed are red, yellow and white. .Public Works Director Olson stated that red is generally seen for fire and yellow is generally for parking restrictions: Motion by Councilmember Olson, seconded by Councilmember Dehen to recommend to the City_ Council that staff be directed to restrict parking within 20 feet of crosswalks within the Ramsey Town Center as traffic conditions and development warrant by painting the curbing yellow without the use of signs. Motion carried. Voting Yes: Chair Elvig and Councilmember Olson and Dehen. Voting No: None. COMMITTEE INPUT None.
