CASE #
CONSIDER PARKING RESTRICTIONS ON
ST. FRANCIS BOULEVARD FRONTAGE ROAD
By Steven Jankowski, City Engineer
Background:
The City has been contacted by a property owner along the TH 47 frontage road between 149tH
Lane and its terminus north of 152°d Avenue requesting that consideration be given to restrict
parking along one side due to its narrow width- (approximately. 20 feet), it would be very difficult
for emergency vehicles to access the area should vehicles be parked on both sides. The City
police department has not noticed past problems in this area and the fire department reports that.
because of the close proximity of the service road to Hwy 47, fire vehicles could be parked on
Hwy 47. Because of issues involving high speed traffic, this option is not favorable, but still an
option.
Notification:
There are six property owners having frontage along this service road and all have been invited
to this evening's meeting to discuss this issue.
Recommendation:
Due to the narrow width of the road and the concern for public safety, restricting parking on one
side of the street appears prudent, however the neighbors should be involved in making this
decision.
Action:
Based upon discussion
Reviewed By:
Director of Public Works/Principal City Engineer
Assistant City Engineer
Public Works Street Supervisor
Chief of Police
PW: 11/18/08
-153-
