Chairperson Johns stated that she also like the hexagonal shape and thought if the difference in <br />cost was only $1,000 it would be money well spent. She agreed with the use of black for the <br />banding and in keeping with the colors of nature. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood explained that at the December meeting plans and specifics would <br />be provided in the packet and would be open for discussions. He advised that they would be <br />looking for approval on the plans and specs at the December meeting to forward onto the Council <br />for their approval to gain bids in January. <br /> <br />Commissioner Shryock questioned if the student presentations would be given during the <br />December meeting as well. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood confirmed those presentations would occur during the meeting and <br />explained in more detail the timeframe and discussions that would take place during that <br />meeting. <br /> <br />Chairperson Johns stated that she liked the cedar look of the features. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood displayed a sketeh of the canoe rack and advised that it would be <br />,lQcated along the path to the pier. He advised that Commissioner Shryock had previously asked <br />him about the prominence of the loekers located in the canoe rack and explained that they eould . <br />have two loekers on each side of the raek, for a total offour. He explained that the lockers would <br />be made of a durable plastic type matel'ial that would allow for the lifejackets to breathe. He <br />advised that the lockers ~ould be set into the canoe rack a bit so that they did not stand out or <br />overpower the feature. He advised that although they have not worked out the eomplete details <br />for renting the canoes there would be some type of registration required. <br /> <br />Commissioner Hansen questioned if there is an age limit for the rental of the canoes, which <br />would prevent young kids from taking the canoe unsupervised. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that he was open to suggestion on the process and <br />explained that he is stilI waiting for information on what type of lifejacket use agreement would <br />need to occur. He advised that p6ssibly residents would need to sign out a canoe from City Hall <br />or the website. <br /> <br />Commissioner Barr advised that with small children she would not load the canoe ftom the dock <br />and questioned if a gravel area would be provided along the dock for boarding of the canoe from <br />that area. <br /> <br />Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that currently there are quite a few cattails in that area and <br />explained that they were still working on the required permits for that to take place.
