Park Land Acquisition Study Group
Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that the Boy Scout organization had thought about
selling their property and using the funding to improve their other resources. He advised
that the decision had been made by the Board of Directors to seek out a purchase by the
City or County. He explai.ned that the County had expressed the opinion that they may
not be interested in the property as they have the Rum River property not far from the
location. He advised that the community does see value in this property and consensus
from City Council was to develop a land acquisition study group to gather additional
information. He advised that a few Councilmembers are also interested in gaining
additional riverfront property and will be reviewing that option as well.

Chairperson Johns was glad to hear about the possible acquisitions. She thought it would
be a great addition to the system.

. Trail Route Mapping on the Web
Parks Supervisor Riverblood advised that this system could be used to map out fitness
routes for residents. He explained that they are right on the cusp of being able to measure
out certain segments of the trail routes. He advised that they would also be able to add
maps, pictures and dimensions of the parks at that time. He thought that the addition of
this tool would be a great benefit and addition for the residents.

Commissioner Shryock thought that this would increase the use of the City website and
agreed that it would benefit the trail users and people using the trails for fitness.

Park and Recreation CommissionlNovember 13, 2008
Page 10 of 11
